Mrs. d’Aquino – Mrs. d’Aquino has been teaching here at Greencastle for 15 years! Mrs. d’Aquino earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. (Go Terps!) She earned a master’s degree in Curriculum & Education from McDaniel College and a master’s degree in Reading from Johns Hopkins University. Mrs. d’Aquino achieved National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist. She lives in Howard County with her husband and 3 children. Mrs. d’Aquino loves to go to the beach with her family. Her favorite children’s Author is Mo Willems.
Dr. Sperl –Dr. Sperl is back for his fourth enthusiastic year at The Castle as a Reading Focus Teacher in grades 3 – 5. He has worked for Montgomery County Public schools for 14 years. In his last role, he taught elementary special education. Dr. Sperl first went to SUNY Plattsburgh where he received his undergraduate degree in Special Education. From there, he taught for three years in New York. After leaving NY, Dr. Sperl moved to Maryland to get a master’s degree from UMCP. Later, he pursued a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology focusing on learning in informal settings. He enjoys reading and running and is often listening to books while on long runs. His favorite children’s book is James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. His son’s favorite book series is currently Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Mrs. Carter –This is Mrs. Carter’s 6th year teaching at Greencastle as a Reading Support teacher in grades K-2.
Prior to working at Greencastle, Mrs. Carter has taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten at Woodlin Elementary School in Silver Spring. Mrs. Carter earned a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Trinity University. She lives in Potomac, Maryland with her husband and three sons. Mrs. Carter loves to knit and take long hikes with her family. Her favorite children’s book is Alexander, and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
